Curriculum Vitae

Experience

As a freelancer, I have written press releases and web copy for a number of business websites and edited existing copy to make it more interesting to visitors and more attractive to search engines.  I have also written brochure copy, sales letters and emails, feature articles, parenting advice columns, and humor pieces.  And I have recently started to write fundraising letters for charities.

 

I worked in an office environment for over a decade, and collected valuable skills along the way: internet research skills, business writing, website authoring and publishing, desktop publishing, copywriting, proofreading and editing, and more.  I've also worked as a bank teller, a retail clerk in a record store, and even a package handler at a FedEx hub while in college! 

 

Most recently, I worked for an intellectual property management firm for almost four years, serving as executive assistant to the CEO, webmaster, and unofficial director of marketing; and inaugurating, writing, and publishing the company's monthly newsletter.  I am still involved with the company's websites and marketing campaigns.

Education

I hold a BA in English from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee.  My concentration was in writing, and I won Rhodes' 1995 Allen Tate Award for poetry and short fiction.

 

After graduation, I also took several computer courses from New Horizons Computer Center and attained my first-level CIW (Certified Internet Webmaster) certification in 2000.

Family

Last but certainly not least, I have a wonderful husband, two adorable daughters and a deliciously pudgy baby boy!
